Mata Kaulan Ji Mission Hospital is one of the Renowned Hospitals with ambition to offer “TOP RATED” medical services to the needy especially poor and downtrodden section of the society. The hospital management is reflexive and prepared with all medical necessities to fulfill it.

A group of very much focused, highly qualified and experienced medical and paramedical staff and an experienced faculty of Specialist Doctors who all put in efforts to offer and provide uninterrupted State of Art medical care and that too with a long history of 38 years of service to poor and unprivileged section of society.

MATA KAULAN JI MISSION HOSPITAL, AMRITSAR

The project of Mata Kaulan Ji group of hospitals was started about 42 years back in the auspicious memory of “MATA KAULAN JI” a staunch follower of Sikh Faith by SRI SUKHMANI SAHIB SEWA SOCIETY (Gurudwara Mata Kaulan Ji) at Katra Dal Singh, Amritsar in the city area as an outpatient dispensary and subsequently added one more in the Industrial slum area of East Mohan Nagar for Industrial workers by its founder members, worth mentioning are Late S. Mohan Singh JI Lohewale, Late. S. Ravinder Singh Ji, Late S. Santokh Singh Ji, and S. Gurdeep Singh Saluja along with sangat of Sri Sukhmani Sahib Sewa Society.

All these visionaries felt the need for such dispensaries with areas where the people with average to low economic status were residing, especially the unprivileged slum dwellers and industrial workers who could hardly afford medical treatment when they were ailing and diseased because of their poor economic status.

Keeping in view the great response and acceptability of these free services by the beneficiaries, both of these dispensaries were subsequently converted into MULTISPECIALITY O.P.D HOSPITALS with the help of visiting honorary specialists sparing their time for the service of poor mankind. The residents of the areas and colonies around these hospitals were highly benefited by these services and these were highly appreciated even by the Punjab Government which was kind enough to provide the services of Dr. Amrik Singh Arora then working as PCMS Officer, on deputation to the East Mohan Nagar Hospital branch.

ESTABLISHMENT HISTORY OF THE HOSPITAL

Assessing the great need of admitting the more sick and serious patients and so also to provide emergency medical services, surgeries, MCH services, and obstetric services, the management approached the Punjab Government through local administration which in turn keeping in view the great services being rendered by the hospital, the local body dept. of Punjab Government was kind enough to allot a piece of land for building a full-fledged multispecialty hospital on 100 ft. road, East Mohan Nagar, Amritsar on the reserve price.

The Foundation stone of this great Epicenter of “SEWA” was laid down by a Staunch Sikh Administrative officer S. Ramesh Inder Singh, IAS then Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar on the auspicious day of Nov 23, 1986. The project was beautifully planned by a prominent Architect and Engineer S. Narinderjit Singh (son of the great builder of Amritsar Eng. S. Dharam Singh Ji) and with the associate team of Dr. Amrik Singh Arora and Dr. Varinder Chopra, Dr. H. S. Sohal.

The project was planned to be completed in 4-5 years but with the great efforts of the founder trustees and generous help of Bhai Sahib Bhai Guriqbal Singh Ji, an honored Sikh Parcharak and Philanthropist along with the prominent businessman, officers, Philanthropists, and other Sewa Societies, it was completed in just 1 and half years.

A team of prominent doctors of the City Medical College, Dr. Gurdev Singh Girgila, Dr. Hardas Singh Sandhu, a world-renowned orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Balwant Singh Ji Tung then Principal of Medical College of Amritsar, and Dr. H. S. Sohal gave their Honorary services in setting up the various departments and establishing the hospital in its present form and this project after completion was dedicated to the public by Hon'ble S. Sarabjit Singh I.A.S. then Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar on the auspicious day of March 20, 1988.

It is worthy to mention here that Baba Kashmir Singh Ji Bhuriwale has helped the hospital in various construction and donation activities.
He has helped the organization in various ways and has helped us to achieve our goal. His donations have been influential in accomplishing our goal of providing the best healthcare services to the poor and needy. We thank him for his continuous support to the organization.

ESTABLISHMENT OF SURGICAL DEPARTMENT:

Subsequently while inaugurating the surgical services and operation theatre complex, Dr. Balwant Singh Tung, a Doyen of surgery, then Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DRME) Punjab, announced joining this great institute after his retirement from Government assignment, which he did soon after retiring as DRME. This brought a feather in the development of the surgical services.

A surgical team headed by Dr. Balwant Singh Tung, Dr. Gurdev Singh Girgila, Dr. Gurjit Singh, Dr. Amrik Singh Arora was formed and the dept. of surgery was established. There was extensive response of patients requiring various surgeries, not only from Amritsar and surrounding cities but patients from whole of the Punjab, adjoining states of Himachal, Haryana and J&K started pouring in for getting all types of surgical procedures, both major and super major surgeries and this way this became the nodal institute for surgeries greatly applauded by Punjab government and its health department and general public and that too at a time when the Punjab was passing through a dark period of Terrorism.

ADDITION OF SECOND COMPLEX:

Keeping in view to run all these services smoothly especially with the contributions from Philanthropists, donors, and religious personalities, a separate trust was formed for its further development and smooth working under the leadership of Late S. Ravinder Singh, a well-known Philanthropist and businessman of the city who dedicated the whole of his life for such like causes as its FOUNDER MANAGING TRUSTEE and six other founder trustees i.e. Lt. S. Mohan Singh Ji Lohewale as President, Lt. S. Santokh Singh as Vice President, S. Gurdeep Singh Saluja, Hony. Secretary and Financial Secretary, Dr. Amrik Singh Arora, Medical Advisor, Eng. S.Narinderjit Singh, Establishment Advisor, S. Tejinder Singh as Public Relations trustee.

A team of 51 other members was also constituted which including donors, technical Consultants, Philanthropists and other prominent public figures who all worked day and night to bring the institution to its present level with only object of ”SEWA” which lead to the addition of 2nd adjoining complex with the great efforts of Brig. (Rtd.) S. Mohinder Singh Ji.
